Brookville's (Pinecrest GC) C.G. Mercatoris, IV, Robert
Morris University, and Pittsburgh's Adam Hofmann (Fox Chapel
GC), Vanderbilt University, have been named co-recipients of
the Association's Frank Fuhrer, III, Award for the area's
outstanding collegiate golfer in 2010-11.
Merecatoris, a graduating senior, was medalist in four
tournaments, including the Northeast Conference Championship

Florida. He was the NEC's Player of the Year, and his
scoring average of 72.9 for 25 rounds was the best in RMU
history. His lowest score was 68 in the first round of the
Mount St. Mary's Invitational, a tournament he went on to
win. He played in the NCAA Division I Regional at Colorado
National GC as an individual and tied 31st.
Hofmann, a redshirt junior with another year of eligibility,
won
the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at CC of Saphire Valley, NC,
where he shot 66 in the first round, his best of the
season. Hofmann recorded four more top tens including a 3rd
at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational, Aiken, SC,
with 70-69-70--209. His scoring average of 73.3 for 34
rounds led the team. Hofmann played in the NCAA Division I
Regional as an individual at Virginia Tech's Pete Dye River
Course and finished t-28.
Another fine performance was turned in by Hermitage's
Michael Klaric, Cleveland State, who finished the season by
winning the Horizon League championship followed by an 8th

This is the second consecutive year the award was shared,
with Jon Popeck, Maryland, and Rachel Rohanna, Ohio State,
being the 2009-10 recipients.
