Playing steady golf throughout, then rallying with a final round 66, Pittsburgh's Nathan Smith finished the prestigious Sunnehanna Amateur at 272, eight under par. It's annually played at Sunnehanna CC, Johnstown. His 68-68-70-66 tied him with Lee Bedford, Cary, NC, and Zac Blair, Ogden, UT. In the aggregate playoff, Smith's one under produced his first Sunnehanna Amateur title, a championship he has pursued for sixteen years.

He is the first winner from this area in the Sunnehanna's nearly sixty year history. Outstanding golfers such as Bob Reilly, John Birmingham, Jim Simons, Jim Masserio, Frank Fuhrer, III, and Sean Knapp have played well but none has won.

For more on Nathan Smith's win and the championship, check www.sunnehanna.com.

Congratulations to Nathan Smith.
