Stimmel reinstated to amateur golf

Rick Stimmel, whose resume includes wins in the 1996 Pennsylvania Amateur at Lake View in Erie, 1997 West Penn Amateur at Pittsburgh Field Club, and the 2002 West Penn Open at Sewickley Heights as a professional, was reinstated to amateur golf by the USGA on June 30. Stimmel was runner-up in the 1997 USGA Mid-Amateur at Dallas Athletic Club. He also qualified for the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach in the Butler CC, Sectional.  

Stimmel, who played professionally, 1998-2010, filed for reinstatement two years ago with the USGA. He has competed this year as an applicant for reinstatement, and recently recorded a top ten finish in the Tri-State Open.
