Five headed to National Amateur

The USGA Amateur Championship will be held at Erin Hills GC, north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, site of an upcoming US Open. In stroke player the contestants will play one round each at Erin Hills and Blue Mound G&CC, Wauwatosa. The low 64 in the field of 312 advance to match play.  

Area golfers in the starting field are David Brown, Pittsburgh, who qualified at Grove City; Adam Hofmann, Pittsburgh, who qualified in Cincinnati, Jim Markovitz, Bridgeville, who qualified in West Virginia, C.G. Mercatoris, who qualified at Grove City; and Nathan Smith, Pittsburgh, exempt from qualifying in several categories.
