In the USGA Mid-Amateur Championship at Shadow Hawk GC,
Richmond, TX, near Houston, defending champion, Nathan
Smith, Pittsburgh, qualified for match play with 70-72--142,
tied for 5th, and Sean Knapp, Oakmont, a sem-finalist in two
of the least three years, also advanced with
71-75--146. The playoff for final spots was at 149. Two
more area players, Erik Bertrand and David Brown, recorded
151.
In the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur at Bayville GC, Virginia
Beach, VA, Jordan Craig, Connellsville, rallied from a first
round 83 with 73 in the second for a 156 total to qualify
for match play. The cut was 164.
