Nathan Smith wins Mid-Amateur in playoff

Nathan Smith, Brookville, defeated Scott Phillis, Meadville, on the fourth hole of a hole-by-hole playoff to win the 21st West Penn Mid-Amateur Championship, played at The Club at Nevillewood, Tuesday, May 30. Smith parred all four playoff holes and Phillis matched him for the first three before bogeying the 11th hole at Nevillewood. Smith and Phillis both shot 142 (-2) during the 36-hole stroke play championship.

David Brown, Upper St. Clair, finished third at 144 (even), while John Jones, Lower Burrell, was fourth at 145 (+1).
