One of the Association's Centennial History Makers, and top five women of WPGA's first century along with daughter Carol, Phyllis Semple, passed away at her home in Delray Beach, Florida, on Sunday, January 18. She was 87. A multi-talented person with sports skills as a tennis player and equestrienne, she was a "happy warrior" with a keen mind and wit. Her golf records, although eclipsed by daughter Carol, include six Women's GA of Western Pennsylvania titles, the 1964 Pennsylvania Women's championship, numerous strong USGA women's finishes, and an outstanding senior women's record highlighted by a 3rd place in the 1971 USGA Senior Women's Amateur. In addition to numerous philanthropic and charitable activities, she served for decades on USGA projects, including the Musuem and Women's Committees.
