Cipriani begins term as WPGA President

During the Association's Annual Meeting at Sunnehanna, Dario Cipriani, Lake View CC in Erie, was elected WPGA President for 2011-2011, succeeding Don Erickson, III, DuBois/Indiana. The new officers are David Kuhar, Sinking Valley, Vice- President; Gary Evans, South Hills, Secretary, and James Boughner, Youghiogheny, Treasurer.

In addition to Erickson, retiring from the Executive Committee is Art Peternel, Pittsburgh National. Newly elected are Tim Slavish, Pittsburgh Field Club; Michael Smith, Sunnehanna; Colleen VanDruff, Green Oaks; and Rud VanHorn, Hickory Heights.

First elected to the WPGA Executive Committee in 2001, Cipriani has chaired the Association's Championship and Risk Management Committees. A past president of Erie District Golf Association (EDGA), 1991-97; Cipriani is the first WPGA \ President from Erie. He was also president of Lake View CC, 1986-87. Cipriani is a partner in the Erie insurance firm, Historic Square Agency. Born and educated in Erie, he is a graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School and Mercyhurst College, with a BA in Marketing and Management. Cipriani has been involved in numerous charities including his church, social services, health systems, and his college. A fine golfer, he has won three club titles at Lake View and the 1984 and 1987 EDGA championships. Cipriani has also qualified for the two US Amateurs (1981, 1990) and US Mid-Amateurs (1988,1989).
