2012 Frank Fuhrer III Collegiate Player of the Year Award Watch List

Vanderbilt senior Adam Hofmann, the 2011 Frank Fuhrer III co-Collegiate Player of the Year, and 11 other student athletes have been selected for the 2012 Frank Fuhrer III Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List. Now in its 11th year, the Fuhrer Award is designated to recognize outstanding golf performance from a collegiate player that hails from Western Pennsylvania.

Previous recipients include Mike VanSickle, Justin Smith, Robert Rohanna, John Popeck and 2011 co-recipient, C.G. Mercatoris. The 2011-2012 season watch list includes four seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and three freshman with student athletes competing at colleges in states such as Georgia, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.

The 2001-2012 collegiate golf season includes the following players on the 2012 Fuhrer Award Watch List: Ian Bangor, a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon; Sean Brannan, a senior at Maryland; Adam Hofmann, a senior at Vanderbilt; Michael Klaric, III, a junior at Cleveland State; Kevin Loutsenhizer, a freshman at La Roche, Bo Lustig, a freshman at Robert Morris; William Miller, a senior at Georgia Tech, Brock Pompeani, a junior at Robert Morris; Ross Pringle, a senior at Clarion; Ryan Prokay, a freshman at Robert Morris; Rachel Rohanna, a junior at Ohio State; and Sean Sweithelm, a junior at IUP.

The Fuhrer Award is named in honor of Frank Fuhrer, III. Now a businessman in Pittsburgh, Mr. Fuhrer's accomplishments on the golf course include being named All-American at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1979-81, All ACC 1979-81, named to the 1981 USGA Walker Cup team, winner of the 1981 Western Amateur and the winner of 11 WPGA championships. Mr. Fuhrer was the #2 ranked Amateur in the United States in 1981 and is one of the leading supporters of the Association.
