The 16th hole at The Club at Nevillewood
The Association began a early season stroke play championship in 1994. It was first an invitational for club champions, Honor Roll members, and champions of WPGA events. The event was expanded to a more open format in 2009. Fields ranged 30-40. This year's version to be played at April 23 at The Club at Nevillewood has a maximum of 72 players plus a small waiting list. This all time record nearly doubles a typical starting field.
Nevillewood has a history of attracting large fields, both for WPGA and Pennsylvania Golf Association competitions. Qualifying was required for the 2006 WPGA Mid-Amateur. The 2004 WPGA Four-Ball overbooked with a record number of entries.
