Former Executive Committee member passes away

Richard C. McPherson, a member of the Association's Executive Committee, 1995-2000, died on June 21. He was most involved with the Green Committee playing a key role in developing budget and compensation information. He served as a Rules of Golf official for the WPGA and the Pennsylvania Golf Association for many years. He was the recipient of the Association's 2007 Bill Mac Award for outstanding service as a volunteer.
A lifelong area resident, McPherson was a graduate of Sewickley High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. He served in the US Air Force, 1957-60, in Libya, and in the Air Force Reserve. McPherson worked for Pittsburgh Corning for 43 years, retiring as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. He was a longtime member at Edgewood Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan, a son and daughter.
