Area golfers dominate State Open

Nine players with roots in Western Pennsylvania finished in the top seven and ties at last week's Pennsylvania Open,held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort's Mystic Rock Course, Farmington. Clayton Rotz, Chambersburg, won the title with a 54-hole total of 205.

Area golfers on the leader board:
T-2 - Matt Moot, Johnstown; Mike VanSickle, Wexford
4th - John Popeck, Washington
T-5 - Kevin Shields, Pittsburgh; Dan Thompson, Johnstown
T-7 - Robert Rohanna, Waynesburg; Sean Knapp, Oakmont (a); Gregor Orlando, Erie; (a),Nathan Suthernland, Oakmont.

Next years' PNC West Penn Open will also be played at Mystic Rock. The defending champion is Thompson, who won this years' version at Fox Chapel, July 9-10.
