Two advance through PGA Tour first stage

Two-time Pennsylvania Open champion, Mike VanSickle
Justin Smith, St. Paul, MN, who lived in Franklin and Pittsburgh, during his high school and college career, advanced at Florence CC, SC, with 68-68-68-70--274, tied for 3rd. Smith twice received the Frank Fuhrer Award for outstanding collegiate play, once as a member of the NCAA Championship University of Minnesota team. He won the Association's C.R. Miller Junior Match Play Championships in 1998 and 1999.
At Callaway Gardens, GA, Bobby MacWhinnie recorded 69-67-67-72--275, tied for ninth. MacWhinnie won the WPGA Junior Championships in 1999 and 2000. He played collegiate golf at University of Maryland.

Nathan Sutherland, Wyomissing, an Oakmont member, recorded 295, at the PGA Wanamaker Course, Port St. Lucie, FL; he missed by eight strokes.
Mike Adamson, a native of Waynesburgh, recorded 299 at the PGA Wanamaker Course, Port St. Lucie, FL; he missed by twelve strokes.
