Washington, PA, native Steve Wheatcroft recorded a t-18 finish in the Web.com Tour's tournament in Boise July 25-28. He needs a strong finish in the Mylan Classic at Southpointe this week to move into contention for a 2014 PGA Tour card. The 2004 West Penn Open champion is 44th on the Web.com money list with just over $81,000 in winnings. He is $36,000 away from the coveted 25th spot on the money list to qualify for the PGA Tour.

Wheatcroft has strong ties to Southpointe, the site of the Mylan Classic. He played the course regularly for several years and he was also employed at the club. Wheatcroft now calls Ponte Vedra Beach home. He has played the PGA Tour two seasons and the Web.com Tour five. His overall winnings exceed two million dollars.

Others in the field include former Penn State standout Kevin Foley, who won earlier this year on the Web.com Tour and Sam Saunders, Arnold Palmer's grandson.

Several top amateurs from around the country are also in this field and include Nathan Smith, four-time winner of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.
