Two players with area ties, Rocco Mediate, Greensburg, and Brendon Todd, McMurray, recorded strong finishes last weekend on the Champions Tour and PGA Tour respectively.

The Champions Tour opener was played January 17-19, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic at Hualaiai GC in Hawaii. Mediate recorded 63-70-67-200, to finish in fifth place, six strokes behind Bernhard Langer. Mediate led after the first round.

In the PGA Tour's Humana Challenge in LaQuinta, California, January 16-19, Todd recorded 65-63-68-69--265, tying for sixth behind Patrick Reed. Todd, who secured his PGA Tour card last Fall with his top-25 money list finish on the 2013 Web.com Tour, is 27th on this year's money list with just over $514,000 in winnings. He has recorded three solid finishes so far this season.

Reed opened with three 63's on his way to victory, then shot 71 for a two stroke victory. He joins Harris English and Rory McIlroy as the only players under age 25 with two or more PGA Tour victories.
