Arnold Cutrell, Greensburg, is the recipient of the 2014 Pennsylvania Golf Association’s William C. Fownes Award as the state’s outstanding amateur player. Cutrell played well in many events the Pennsylvania Golf Association conducts resulting in a significant lead over runner-up Nathan Smith, Wildwood, the WPGA’s Player of the Year, on the Pennsylvania list.

On the WPGA Honor Roll, Smith and Cutrell traded spots. Smith’s top accomplishment was a quarter-final finish in the US Amateur. The highlight of Cutrell’s season locally was a runner-up finish in the West Penn Amateur at Penn State to Trent Karlik.

Finishing fifth on the Pennsylvania GA points list was Will Betts, Longue Vue, who recorded a top finish in the Pennsylvania Amateur and qualified for match play in the US Amateur.
