Jeffrey L. Rivard has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2015 season as Executive Director of the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association (WPGA) where he has held that position since 1993. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve on a variety of committees, as an officer, and currently as President of the WPGA where Jeff Rivard has created a climate of volunteerism within our association.

Jeff has led the WPGA through many changes in the game of golf over his 22 years as Executive Director with excellent results. His knowledge of the game of golf, its rules and decisions, and of the game’s history has been at the core of his leadership style. In many ways, Jeff has been a guardian of the association, from the growth of our core programs and volunteer recruitment by enhancing our reputation and image in the business of golf. Jeff will leave the association in a much stronger position financially and in the strength of our volunteer base.

Jeff’s guidance over the years has provided a straightforward framework for volunteers to serve in a variety of roles within the association. The impact of Jeff Rivard on western Pennsylvania golf has been felt by our championship players, our member clubs, and those involved in the golf business from club management, golf professionals, and golf course superintendents. We look forward to Jeff’s continued involvement as a championship official and with help on special projects as our association transitions into a new era.

Tim Fitzgerald, President
