Friend posts best finish on Champions Tour

Bob Friend, among a handful of area golfers who have won both the West Penn Amateur (1984 & 1985), and West Penn Open (2006), recorded an 8th place tie finish on the Champions Tour last weekend.

Friend shot 68-70-69 - 207 in the in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open at En Joie Golf Club in Endicott, NY, formerly a PGA Tour stop.

Friend is tied for 66th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings this season, 93rd on the Champions Tour money list with just under $60,000 in winnings. He has competed in four events during 2015.

After top amateur and college records at Louisiana State University, Friend played the and PGA Tour for two decades, 1984-2005. His total winnings on both tours were just under $1,500,000. He won once on the tour and was runner-up in the Canadian Open on the PGA Tour, his best showings on each.
