New handicap education requirement for 2016
Posted April 17, 2016 - Western Pennsylvania Golf Association - Contact
The USGA Handicap Department has launched a new online initiative to assess the educational awareness of the USGA Handicap System™. This initiative, in partnership with the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association, replaces the WPGA Handicap Chair Certification Program that has been in place since 2002. It also replaces the seminar requirement of the USGA Handicap System from the 2012-2015 cycle.
The assessment will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and will be accessed using the link provided at the bottom of this memo. We ask that a representative from each licensed golf club, preferably the Handicap Chairperson, complete this assessment and provide a candid response to each section. Upon completion of this survey, the club will receive an email confirming completion of this assessment as well as a summary of the responses. We appreciate the efforts to complete this requirement by May 31, 2016.
By completing this assessment, the WPGA and USGA will be able to measure the golf club’s functioning knowledge of important aspects of the USGA Handicap System and provide the opportunity for the golf club to receive additional support in any area that the club may require supplemental training.
As always, we appreciate all support for the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association and the USGA Handicap System.
