Rohanna wins 100th Pennsylvania Open at Nevillewood

Robert Rohanna, Waynesburg, Pa., won the 100th Pennsylvania Open conducted at The Club at Nevillewood in Presto, Pa., August 8-10. This is Rohanna’s second PA Open title. His first victory came in 2010 at Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern, Pa.
Rohanna made 13 birdies and 2 eagles against five bogeys in his 12-under total of 204 on rounds of 71-65-68. His six-stroke victory is the most since the Pennsylvania Open changed to a 54-hole championship.
Rohanna’s victory was the first for a golfer from western Pennsylvania since his previous title in 2010.
Area golfers dominated the field with eight among the Top 10 and ties.
Low amateur honors went to Jimmy Ellis of McMurray who finished T6 at 5-under 211.
In addition to Rohanna, four local players who figured prominently in the West Penn Open at Longue Vue Club were also in the hunt at Nevillewood.
West Penn Open champion Devin Gee of Oakmont finished T8 at 6-under 210.
Mike VanSickle, McKees Rocks, finished T2 with Cole Wilcox, David Denlinger, and Irwin’s Daniel Obremski at 6-under 210.
VanSickle also finished runner-up in the West Penn Open, Rohanna finished third, Obremski finished fourth, and Miller finished T9 and low amateur.
As an amateur, VanSickle won the Pennsylvania Open in 2007 and 2008. He has won two West Penn Opens as a professional in 2013 & 2015.
From 2003-2010, six area golfers won seven Pennsylvania Opens: Steve Wheatcroft won at Stonewall in 2003, Ryan Sikora at the Pittsburgh Field Club in 2004, Sean Farren at Sunnybrook in 2005, Mike VanSickle, at Lancaster in 2007 and at Old York Road in 2008, Justin Smith at Oakmont in 2009, and Robert Rohanna at Applebrook in 2010.
