Mark Caliendo elected 97th WPGA president

Mark Caliendo, Montour Heights, was elected President during the WPGA Annual Meeting at Chartiers Country Club on October 10. He succeeds Ron Moehler of Chartiers as the 97th WPGA President in the the Association’s storied and lengthy history.

The remaining officers are Claudette Graham, Diamond Run, Vice-President; Tim Slavish, Pittsburgh Field Club, Secretary; and Rud VanHorn, Hickory Heights, Treasurer.

Caliendo was first elected to the Executive Committee in 2007, and is a long-time board member and former president of Montour Heights Country Club. He has been involved in many association activities and committees including Outreach, Hall of Fame, Handicapping and Governance. He has also assisted the WPGA at many championships and is an active course rater. Caliendo is retired from Valspar where he worked as a Senior Engineer. A Murrysville native, Caliendo graduated from Franklin Regional High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He caddied at Westmoreland Country Club and is an alumnus of the WPGA Scholarship Fund.

Newly elected to the Executive Committee are Carol Onufro, Sunnehanna, and Craig Walker, Cranberry Highlands. In addition to Moehler, Colleen VanDruff of Green Oaks also retired from the Executive Committee.

Gatti, Indiana; Dan Johnston, Treasure Lake; Terry Kenny, South Hills; David Malatak, Sewickley Heights; Randy McCombs, Fox Chapel; Glenn Miller, Somerset; Carol Onufro, Sunnehanna; Bob Paris, Lawrence Park; Tim Nettles, St. Clair; Barbara Russell, Edgewood; Jim Toras, St. Clair; and Craig Walker, Cranberry Highlands.
