Whether it be Handicapping, Competitions,
Member Club Services, Scholarships--The WPGA is there for all
golfers. Founded in 1899, the Western
Pennsylvania Golf Association is the steward of amateur golf in
the region, an association of golf clubs and their individual
members brought together for the good of the game. Starting with
just 5 clubs, the association now numbers over 100 clubs and
30,000 golfers.
The WPGA's mission is to advance the interests
and spirit of the game of golf and to encourage a spirit of
harmony and cooperation among golf clubs and other related
associations. Primary activities include administration of the
USGA Handicap System, educational programs for members and club
employees, the sharing of information and the conduct of
