In a qualifying round for the 120th WPGA Open Championship held at Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickley, 28 golfers secured their spots in the upcoming championship at Edgewood Country Club in Pittsburgh, June 19-21.

Scott Jordan, Conner Alfieri, and Anthony Muscato emerged as the top performers, all sharing low-scorer honors with impressive 1-under 71’s.

A total of 70 players started the competition. Among them, notable performances stood out.

Scott Jordan showcased his skills, recording 5 birdies. Connor Alfieri demonstrated his prowess by achieving 6 birdies. Anthony Muscato, a recently reinstated Amateur, displayed his talent with 3 birdies, a bogey, and an eagle.

These individual performances added excitement and drama to the qualifying round, setting the stage for an engaging championship at Edgewood.

To determine the final four qualifying spots, a playoff was held between seven players who were vying for those coveted positions.

After a thrilling hole-by-hole playoff, four players emerged. Quintin Dziabo, Clay Spangler, Jeffrey Schmigel, and Jon Pratkanis showcased their resilience and skill, securing their spots in the championship. Their outstanding performance under pressure ensured their advancement and added an extra layer of excitement to the qualifying round. Now, these talented golfers will join the rest of the qualifiers and exempt players at Edgewood for the highly anticipated championship event.

Notably, this year marks a significant milestone for Edgewood Country Club, as they celebrate their 125th anniversary. Additionally, the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association will begin its own 125th-anniversary celebrations, beginning with the championship at Edgewood.
