Flisek elected 104th WPGA president

Ken Flisek, The Club at Nevillewood, was elected President during the WPGA Annual Meeting on October 9. He succeeds Jim Beck of Hannastown Golf Club and is the 104th President of the WPGA.

Other Executive Committee members elected include Carol Onufro, Sunnehanna, Vice President; Mary Beth Morrissey, Connoquenessing, Secretary; and Tom Reading, Fox Chapel, Treasurer.

Flisek has been a Golf Course Superintendent for 39 years, and is retiring from The Club at Nevillewood this month after 32 ½ years of dedicated service. He graduated from the Penn State Turfgrass Management Program in 1981, and is the first Golf Course Superintendent to serve as WPGA President in our 125 year history.

As a long-time volunteer of the WPGA, Flisek has served on the Championship and Green Committees. He has been the chairman of the Green Committee since he was elected to our Board of Directors in 2014. His one-year term as President will end at the Annual Meeting next fall.

About the WPGA
Founded in 1899, the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association is the steward of amateur golf in the region. Started by five Member Clubs, the association now has nearly 200 Member Clubs and nearly 37,000 members. The WPGA conducts 14 individual competitions and 10 team events, and administers the WPGA Scholarship Fund and Western Pennsylvania Golf Hall of Fame.
