GREENSBURG — The WPGA returns to Green Oaks Country Club Monday for the 16th Senior Four-Ball Championship.
Started in 2011, the Senior-Four Ball Championship is a 36-hole stroke play competition that will feature two divisions: the Senior and the Super-Senior.
A year ago, the teams of Arnold Cutrell and Frank Fairman, and Don Erickson and Joseph Corsi, took home the Senior and Super-Senior Divisions, respectively. For both teams, it was the second straight year in which they claimed the titles.
All-time, there has been one name that has had the most success in the Senior Four-Ball: Bob Allshouse.
Phil Saylor and Allshouse won the first Senior Four-Ball Championship, and Allshouse has been part of five winning teams over the years, with two victories in the Senior division and three in the Super-Senior Division, which was introduced in 2018.
He will compete this year in the Super-Senior field with Kevin McCarthy.
Reigning WPGA Senior Amateur champion Artie Fink will be in the first group off of the 10th tee, while defending WPGA Super-Senior champion Rod Piatt will compete beginning at 9 a.m.
There are 24 teams signed up to compete Monday, with two teams per starting time, beginning at 8:30 a.m. from two tees.
This is the fourth time that Green Oaks County Club has hosted the Senior Four-Ball Championship, with past championships being contested at the Verona course in 2012, 2019 and 2024.
