BEN AVON HEIGHTS — One hopeful will punch a ticket to the 77th U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship Tuesday.
The single-round qualifying event will take place at Shannopin Country Club, located just outside of Pittsburgh.
25 players are set to compete, with one qualifying spot and two alternate positions up for grabs for the championship, set for Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina from July 13-18.
Of the 25 competitors, ten are from Western Pennsylvania, including two-time reigning WPGA Girls Junior Player of the Year Mya Morgan. Fellow Team Pennsylvania members Ellie Benson and Jillian Burks will compete, as well.
This will be the second USGA Qualifying round held at Shannopin Country Club this year, as U.S. Women’s Open Qualifying took place at Shannopin in early May.
Play will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the final group teeing off at 9:20 a.m.
