PITTSBURGH — A spot in the 81st U.S. Women’s Open is up for grabs on Tuesday at Shannopin Country Club.

Administered by the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association, 81st U.S. Women’s Open Qualifying will begin at 8 a.m. at the club in Ben Avon Heights.

The Qualifying competition is two rounds (36 holes), with one ticket to the 81st U.S. Women’s Open on the line. Two alternate spots will be earned, as well.

Both amateur and professional players will compete at Shannopin, with players representing 13 states, as well as Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Spain, England and Ireland.

Each qualifying player from the last two U.S. Women’s Open Qualifying events at Shannopin, Caley McGinty (2025) and Rachel Rohanna (2024), will be in a group that will tee off at 9:50 a.m.

Several local standout players — such as Rohanna — will be in the field, including reigning WPGA Junior Girls Player of the Year and two-time PIAA champion Mya Morgan, a senior at Elizabeth Forward High School.

Other accomplished local high school players in Ellie Benson (Peters Township) and Alyssa Zhang (Shady Side Academy) will look for their first trip to the premier women’s national championship in the country.

In total, 38 players are set to compete at Shannopin Country Club.

The 81st U.S. Women’s Open Championship will be held at The Riviera Club in Pacific Palisades, California from June 4-7. Qualifying rounds are conducted throughout the world from April 20 until May 13, as non-exempt players strive to earn a chance to compete with exempt players at Riviera. Tuesday's rounds will be the lone Qualifying event hosted in Pennsylvania.

Shannopin Country Club has hosted U.S. Women’s Open Qualifying each year since 2018, with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making it one of the most consistently used Qualifying host venues in the nation.
