INDIANA — In what may be soggy conditions, numerous local senior golfers will battle Wednesday for a chance to advance in U.S. Senior Open Qualifying.
The Local Qualifying round will be held at Indiana Country Club, with ten spots and two alternate positions up for grabs in the Final Qualifying for the USGA national championship.
Play will begin at 8:30 a.m., with all golfers starting on the first tee. The qualifying event is a single-round, 18-hole competition.
Several local top senior player will be in the field, including three-time WPGA Amateur champion and four-time WPGA Senior Amateur champion David Brown, who claimed Monday’s WPGA Senior Series #1 event at Hannastown Golf Club.
Decorated senior amateur Arnold Cutrell and various other amateurs and professionals will round out the field of 54 players, which features seven players from Canada and 47 Americans.
Beginning last year, the USGA expanded U.S. Senior Open Qualifying to include a Local Qualifying round. Players who qualifying Wednesday will advance to Final Qualifying, with numerous sites throughout the country.
The U.S. Senior Open will be held at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio from July 2-5.
